The Jularbo Museum in the village of Rasten outside Alunda gives you a close-up view of one of Sweden's most celebrated accordionists. It displays artefacts, pictures and music from his life and career.
Kalle Jularbo (born Karl Karlsson, 1893-1966) shaped the Swedish accordion tradition and became one of the country's most famous artists in the first half of the 20th century. He recorded a huge number of records and wrote several immortal melodies, including ”Life in the Finnish forests” and ”The dream of Elin”.
With his characteristic swing and joyful playing, he set a standard that inspired generations of musicians.
The museum also gives a picture of the man behind the music - from childhood in Dalarna to the big stages, and on to the musical heritage that lived on through, among others, the son Eberhard ”Ebbe” Jularbo.
