Sjöstugan - Frötuna local history society Sankt Olofs Gille
At Frötuna church lake, just west of Frötuna church, is Sjöstugan, a homestead that was previously used as a parish cottage and poorhouse from the end of the 17th century to around 1980.
Since 1987, the site has been in the hands of Frötuna Hembygdsförening, which cares for and revitalises the building and its history.
Sjöstugan, originally built around 1695 and restored since 1999, is today used as a meeting place. Exhibitions, working days, National Day celebrations and Frötuna Day are organised here during the summer, often with music and activities.
The association is actively involved in the parish through excursions, study circles, events and the publication of local history, such as two volumes on Frötuna parish.

"In the bosom of Roslagen on the flowering island, where the waves lapping against the shore, and the reeds waving and freshly cut hay, it smells against me sometimes, there I sit on a bench in the bersong and watch terns and seagulls"
