Where is Rävsten located?
Rävsten is an idyllic island located east of Gräsö in the Roslagen archipelago. The island belongs to Östhammar municipality and is close to the border with the Åland Sea. Rävsten offers magnificent nature experiences with both open sea and protected bays - in the middle of one of Sweden's most valuable coastal landscapes.
Accessibility
Rävsten is reached by boat from the Äspskär jetty on southern Gräsö. Return transport must be booked in advance by calling 0173-360 18. The crossing takes about 10 minutes. Please note that the island has no car roads and that access is limited for people with reduced mobility.
Service
Rävsten has 18 charming cottages for rent (93 beds in total), as well as a tent site with a toilet and water pump. The island has large grassy areas for play and games, sauna, hot tub, barbecue areas, kiosk, rowing boats and the possibility to rent kayaks, SUP boards or fishing equipment. Drinking water is available via pump.
History of the programme
The nature of Rävsten is characterised by hundreds of years of haymaking, grazing and farming. The result is an unusually rich cultural landscape with meadows, pastures and pollarded trees - a living natural heritage. The eastern part of the island is owned by the Upplandsstiftelsen and is protected as a Natura 2000 area, thanks to its high natural values and unique species.
