Just inside the Swedish Highlands, which is the outermost outpost towards the sea.
In-Fredlarna has no sheltered, deep harbour, but it is possible to moor at the far end of the fairly shallow northern bay. There are also rocks where sailboats can moor.
On Ut-Fredlarna there is a harbour in the strait between Stora and Lilla Vånskär.
The right of public access gives you access to the islands, but you get here with your own boat. No services are provided. When hiking on the islands, you are required to show great consideration. All sheds are privately owned.
Fishermen, hunters, smugglers, castaways, sailors, customs officers, writers, artists, researchers and photographers - many have travelled the narrow waters around the islands. After the Second World War, the islands were divided up into many small fishing and hunting shares, and it is mainly private individuals who own the islands today. However, some are owned by the Archipelago Foundation.
