Nature reserve
To protect the Själbottna-Eastern Lagnö nature reserve, there are rules you must follow.
In the reserve it is forbidden to

• destroying or damaging a fixed natural object or surface formation by drilling, carving, blasting or painting
• enter land or navigable water areas between 1 February and 15 August northeast around Långnäsholmarna (bird protection area)
• breaking branches, felling or otherwise damaging living or dead trees and shrubs, and otherwise damaging vegetation by digging up plants such as rice, herbs, grasses, mosses or lichens
• disturbing wildlife (e.g. by climbing nest trees, capturing or killing mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians)
• bring a dog that is not on a lead
• setting up a caravan
• camping for more than two consecutive days in the same place
• anchor a boat on the same beach for more than two consecutive days
• make an open fire
• drive a motorised vehicle other than on designated roads
• parking other than in specially designated spaces

History of the programme
Half the island is a reserve. On the other half are cottages and houses built by early summer visitors and wealthy seafaring farmers. The coves and the beautiful bathing cliffs were discovered early by sailors.
