Where are the Swedish Heights?
In the far east of Stockholm's outer archipelago.
Accessibility
The island has no regular boat service and is Sweden's most isolated inhabited island. Only limited harbour facilities are available. Between the island of Skrubban and the outer harbour there are mooring buoys owned and managed by the Swedish Cruiser Club, the public can moor at the buoys for a fee.
On-site services
On the eastern part of Storön at Ytterhamnen, there is a jetty and rubbish chute and a dry toilet for visitors.
Nature reserve
To protect the Swedish Highlands Nature Reserve, there are specific rules you must Follow. You can find all the rules at County Administrative Board website.
History of the programme
Svenska Högarna used to be a fishing harbour and has long been a lighthouse site. The well-known lighthouse was constructed by Gustav von Heidenstam in 1874. The archipelago of Svenska Högarna has been a nature reserve since 1976.
