Imagine we meet in a room filled with fog. We put on headphones and turn our attention inwards. Then the elf's whispering history begins. It moves through the room like water through stone, like an ancient force that carries us forward along its course.
The Biographies of Rivers is a meditative headphone piece where up to forty people collectively recreate the movement of water, from its source to the sea. Through simple movement instructions, a shared choreography is formed, which each individual interprets according to their own ability. The audience becomes part of the work, and each performance is shaped by the location where it takes place: by the people participating and by the nearby waterways. The piece has been created by the internationally acclaimed artist duo Lundahl and Seitl, and exists in the liminal space between choreography, sound art, and nature experience.
It is a sensual, physical, and philosophical work that invites contemplation of movement, time, and humanity as part of a larger cycle. During the Riksteatern tour, Älvarnas biografier will be performed in Swedish. Riksteatern in collaboration with Lundahl & Seitl.
