An exhibition about Bruno Liljefors's artistic career, his life, and his family's everyday life at Österbybruk manor in 1917-1932.
In 1917, Bruno and Signe Liljefors moved with their children to Österbybruk manor house, where the family lived for 15 years. By this time, Bruno was already internationally recognised and is still counted today as one of the world's foremost wildlife painters. With a unique blend of realism and impressionism, he depicted animal life with a great sense of detail – from hares in the snow to foxes and birds of prey in the forest.
After moving in, Bruno converted a brewery by the manor pond into a studio, while the large family filled the manor's 32 rooms. Here they lived close to nature and animals, and often invited artist friends to socialise. The summer exhibition at Österbybruk Manor tells more about the family's life and how the local nature inspired Bruno in his art.
