When the light has returned and the evenings are mild, we want to celebrate with a concert that steps right into early summer. Eric Ericsons Kammarkör invites you to a concert filled with light, air, and burgeoning greenery.
This is a concert for anyone who wants to be swept away by music that is immediate, warm, and heartfelt. We meet in a programme where nature is at the centre – the still spring night, the early summer evening, the trees bursting into leaf and valleys opening up in summer light. The music moves between Nordic tonal poetry and shimmering, contemporary sounds. It encompasses both melancholy and joy, but always through melodies that touch and harmonies that embrace.
We'll hear, among other things, Wilhelm Stenhammar's shimmering spring moods and Edvard Grieg's beloved Spring, side-by-side with newer sounds from composers such as Andrea Tarrodi, music that captures the magical light as it returns. Together, the works form a colourful bouquet, where each note contributes to that sweetly fragrant feeling of spring.
Tonight's host is Kattis Ahlström, who, with warmth and presence, creates a lively atmosphere. At the conductor's podium stands Lone Larsen, appreciated for her energy and expressive musicianship, and at the grand piano, we hear the skilled pianist Michael Engström.
Since its inception in 1945, Eric Ericsons Chamber Choir has held a unique position both in Sweden and internationally. Under the leadership of its founder, Eric Ericson, the choir quickly developed into an ensemble of exceptional musical standard and a sound that became stylistically influential. Today, the repertoire encompasses everything from Renaissance masterpieces to newly composed choral music, and the choir is regarded as one of the world's leading vocal ensembles.
