Exhibition producer Jenny Nolin talks about the exhibition and shares portrait anecdotes over 100 years old.
– Camilla Lööf from Upplandsmuseet talks about the photo collection from the Östhammar studio Skötsner-Edhlund, and the work involved in digitising the collection. You'll also learn how you can contribute your knowledge about the people and places in the photos.

OF THE SKÖTSNER-EDHLUND PHOTO COLLECTION
The collection comprises approximately 20,000 glass plates and negatives from the Östhammar-based photo studio Skötsner-Edhlund. The photographs in the collection were taken around the turn of the 20th century by Brita and Per Elis Skötsner-Edlund. Over half of the glass plates and negatives are already available to the public on digitaltmuseum.se. Many of the individuals and locations portrayed are named, while others are awaiting identification.
Glass plates and negatives are a type of raw material that were processed into elegant photographs. However, in this unfinished format, the images become a story about the photographic moment itself, about the constructed situations, and about the backdrops.
About the Exhibition
This summer, from 9 June to 22 August 2026, you can visit the exhibition "When I Was Photographed" at Kulturhuset Storbrunn in Östhammar. An exhibition about how it felt to stand in front of the camera over 100 years ago, and why people did it. You'll find the exhibition in the Art Room inside the library. The exhibition is open during the library's opening hours. Free admission.
