Welcome to the annual Heritage Day at the Roslagen Museum in Norrtälje!

Programme for the day
Local heritage associations and museums are exhibiting in Faktoriparken adjacent to Roslagsmuseet. This year's exhibitors are the Authorised Norrtälje Guides, Rådmansö Local Heritage Society, Roslagen Maritime Memorial Association, Torsten Nordström Museum and Roden Wool Mill. More may be added!
The Cultural Heritage Unit will be talking about the ancient monument conservation work in the municipality, and there will be lots of fun things to do for our younger visitors. During the day, you can also enjoy folk music in the park with our resident musicians Sven Fredriksson and Ellen Boström.
The Friends of Roslagsmuseet's garden café is open and serving coffee, homemade organic pastries and more, at 12:00-16.00.
There will be two talks on the upper floor of Roslagsmuseet. No advance booking is required for these, but a first-come, first-served basis applies.
- 13:00-14.00 This year's cultural heritage scholar, Åsa Hall, talks about her work and shows pictures.
- 14:30-15.30 ”A letter from the sea means so much.” Lecture by Lars Nylén, Chairman of the Roslagen Maritime Memorial Association.
Heritage Day is one of the Swedish National Heritage Board's annual themed days designed to help generate interest, understanding and engagement in Sweden's cultural heritage and cultural environments. The event is part of the European Heritage Days (EHD), which are celebrated throughout Europe during the month of September.

Current exhibition at Roslagsmuseet
In the exhibition ”Rospiggar & Badjävlar” (Roslagen locals and summer visitors), we take a closer look at Roslagen as a destination, and at the relationship between residents and visitors in Roslagen from various perspectives. Who are we, when and how have we met through the ages, and what do we really think of each other? How have artists and cultural creators portrayed these encounters? The exhibition runs up to and including 3 October 2026.
