In the old forge, the blacksmiths, their wives and children are very close. The stone walls, hearths, hammers and tools convey the story they portray. Both actors and audience are on the site of what the play is about - the people who lived with and from iron production, in pride and captivity, in joy and sorrow.
Jernets Fångar contains a lot of song and music, played on the nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle) and with electronic sounds, as well as several choreographed dances that illustrate the story. It is a performance that is simultaneously serious and humorous, beautiful and comical, combining the amateur actors' performances with professional direction and staging. The Walloon forge has rested and waited.
In 1989, *Iron's Captives* arrived to tell what life had been like there. In 2026, it will be the 36th year in the forge, with a break for the pandemic years.
