Mats Westling broke through with the song “Perfekt” in 2008, taken from the disc ”Café Jacob”. The song quickly became one of Swedish radio's most wanted and played, was also high on sales charts.
Through diligent touring and album release, he has built a devoted audience around the Nordic region and become one of the most popular artists in his genre with millions of listens on Spotify and more. In 2024, Mats released his eighth album called ”Vintergatan 8”, recorded and produced by Petter Eriksson (Daniel Lemma, Sofia Karlsson, Hellström and more) in studio Folkhemmet.
In the spring of 2025, the single ”Jag tar hand om dig” was released, which received a wonderful reception and has been played extensively on the radio. Mats always has a very intimate and close contact with the audience which results in a really high atmosphere.
He has also had a leading role at the Gothenburg Opera, written film music, etc. Over the years, he has collaborated with artists such as Jill Johnson, Björn Olsson (Mando Diao, Hellström, etc.), Cecilia Vennersten, Niklas Strömstedt, Idde Schultz and others. Debuted as an author with the poetry book ”Mitt hjärtas röst” in 2021.
