Art in the River was organised from 2002 to 2012 by the artist-run association Se Norrtälje. Since 2014, Art in the River has been an initiative of the Culture and Leisure Committee, Norrtälje Municipality, and is organised every year by Norrtälje Art Gallery.
Much water has flowed under the bridge since then, and Norrtälje Art Gallery has showcased approximately 90 different artists and artworks over these years.
The inauguration in 2026 will take place in Faktoripark at Roslagen Museum.
