The exhibition reminds us of the deep bond we have with nature and the plant world – as a source of life, inspiration, and reflection.
Here, the gaze is allowed to wander, to pause and discover new connections, linger on a colour or a horizon. Welcome into a world where colour can grow wild, in the transition between the sea's movement and the meadow's rest.
In the paintings, the colour is allowed to grow freely, layer upon layer, from quick, spontaneous brushstrokes to slower, curious and explorative ones. Each work begins with a feeling – a tone, a colour, a memory – rather than a finished plan.
Flowers, sea and landscapes reoccur in various guises: sometimes as suggested blossoms, sometimes as memories of horizons and water, sometimes as more abstract landscapes where forms dissolve into colour and rhythm. The motifs are nature-inspired, but equally stories of movement, stillness and inner landscapes.
About the artist Satu Bohm
For me, art is a prestige-free arena where desire, joy, and the need to create and express are central. In painting, I can tell a story with colour, rhythm, and structure. A painting changes many times during the process, from the quick first layer of paint to a slower, more investigative, curious ”What happens if I do this...”
I enjoy painting large and with strong colours in acrylic. Often with some form of nature-inspired motifs. I always carry the sea with me, having previously lived in Åland, as well as the countryside of southern Finland where I grew up. The landscape of Roslagen with its lakes, forests, fields, and proximity to the sea has similarities to both and is a great source of inspiration that I constantly return to.
