Andersby meadow slopes

A sea of anemones in spring. Andersby ängsbackar offers an idyllic cultural landscape reminiscent of what rural Sweden looked like at the end of the 19th century. This is an area that is perfect for walks and long lazy picnics.

Down by the lake in the southern part of the reserve there is a boathouse where you can rest. Follow the winding paths In the nature reserve you will find most of what the nature of Uppland has to offer on a small scale. Deciduous forest with crackling spring flora. Well-grazed slopes with hazel bushes, surrounded by old fences. In April-May, the slopes are full of wood anemones. There are also small arable fields, murky coniferous forest that hides a myriad of beetles if you look a little closer, Vattholmaåsen with stately oaks on the hill and Dannemorasjön, a sunken plain lake with lots of reeds. If you want to experience all this, you can follow one of the two paths that wind through the area, both around two kilometres long.

You can take the regional bus to the Andersby stop. From the stop it is a 300 metre walk north along road 290 to the reserve entrance.

Keep an eye out!
Next to the hazel bouquets, you can find the water lily, a pink-coloured flowering plant that lives as a root parasite on the hazel.

"In the bosom of Roslagen on the flowering island, where the waves lapping against the shore, and the reeds waving and freshly cut hay, it smells against me sometimes, there I sit on a bench in the bersong and watch terns and seagulls"
