Gimo dam and Gimo mill site

Gimo Mill was built in the early 17th century, and the charming buildings in the village are still reminiscent of its heyday.

Mirror-like lake with forest edge.

The manor house with its 18th century stables is now a hotel and conference centre. Creative Knut Masso celebration Every year on Twenty-day Knut, Knut Masso is organised in Gimo. People dress up and the carnival then runs along Bruksgatan. The old mill building houses the Knutmasso Museum, where you can see fantastic creations from the carnival. Östhammar's equivalent of Lake Hornborga In autumn, you can watch the up to two or three thousand cranes at Gimo Dam as they stop to eat before their long journey south. Plenty of hiking opportunities There are many hiking opportunities here. The five-kilometre Vallon Trail, starting at the mill, has signs telling you about Gimo's mill history. If you want to take a longer walk, a twelve-kilometre loop of the Upplandsleden trail goes around the Gimo dam, starting at Hammaren. Swim, barbecue and rest There are many places to take a break around the Gimo dam. Along the trail there are two shelters with fireplaces and some extra barbecue areas. At Gimobadet there are barbecues, bench tables and a child-friendly bathing area with jetties, sand and large grass areas. The beach has a bathing ramp for visitors with disabilities. Skiing in winter During the winter season, this is a great place for skiing. At Gimo Ski Centre there is an artificial snow loop and when there is plenty of natural snow there are also several other loops.
