Häverö prästängs nature reserve is located on a headland off Rotholmsviken in central Roslagen. The reserve is known for its flower-rich deciduous meadow with over 300 plant species, where deciduous forest, open meadows and beach meadows meet in a contrasting coastal landscape.
About the nature reserve
The area has been used as meadowland since at least the 18th century, when it belonged to Häverö vicarage. The calcareous soil creates favourable conditions for an unusually rich flora. During spring and summer, many plants bloom, and along the paths through the reserve you can experience both open meadows and lush deciduous forest areas.
There are meadows by the water and several places where visitors can stop for a rest or a swim. The nature reserve covers approximately 47 hectares and is managed by the County Administrative Board of Stockholm.
"In the bosom of Roslagen on the flowering island, where the waves lapping against the shore, and the reeds waving and freshly cut hay, it smells against me sometimes, there I sit on a bench in the bersong and watch terns and seagulls"
