The trail connects at Stordammen to both the Upplandsleden and the local Kulturstigen. There is also a swimming and camping area for those who want to take a break by the water. At Klardammen in Dannemora, the trail connects with Karmdammen, another local hiking trail, making it possible to walk around Österbybruk and experience the rich history of the area.
Along the way, you'll find exciting places like Filmer's Hill, where a picnic area offers beautiful views of oak groves and pastures. You'll also pass through Ekbacken, where Film's first church was once intended to be built - but mysterious events caused it to be abandoned, and the site was named Spöklunden.

King Filmer's Path is not only a scenic hiking trail - it also carries stories from ancient times. In the 6th century, petty kings ruled in Uppland, and one of them was Filmer, ruler of the lakes that today are Dannemorasjön and Filmsjön. When King Ingjald of Uppsala invited guests to a feast, he had his rivals burned in order to seize power for himself. Filmer's closest men fought bravely, but fell in the battle. It is said that a treasure chest was thrown into the lake, and that its keys were lost in the flames.
Walk in the footsteps of kings and miners - and let King Filmer's Trail take you on a journey through both nature and history!
