Roslagsleden - stage 9

Roslagsbro-Bagghus/Gåsvik, 25 km Stage 9 of the Roslagsleden trail offers a varied nature walk from Roslagsbro to Gåsvik. Brosjön, Kvarnfallet and Rådasjön bathing spots are highlights along the way. A stop at Flottskär's jetty and a historical visit to Erikskulle hembygdsgård enhance the experience. The stage ends at Bagghusbron bridge near Gåsvik, where the Väddö Canal begins.

On the stretch from Roslagsbro to Gåsvik, stage 9 of the Roslagsleden trail presents a lovely walk through varied nature. Brosjön, one of the county's finest bird lakes, meets you just after Roslagsbro. About 400 metres from the trail there is a bird tower that provides a fantastic view of the lake and its many species of aquatic plants.

Between Brölunda and Vik, Kvarnfallet stands as a beautiful waterfall. There used to be a mill here, and below the road was the waterway to Norrtäljeviken. Nearby is Erikskulle hembygdsgård where you can admire the Viksbåten, a unique Viking boat from the area.

The Roslagsleden trail then takes you along the old church path between Vik and Råda, a path that was once used to reach the church in Söderbykarl. On the way, you pass Tandrudan, a barn that was once used by the people of Råda to rest on their way to and from the church, and which today serves as a welcoming resting place.

At the western end of Rådasjön there is a bathing area with facilities and parking, where the SL bus also stops. The walk continues along winding roads down towards Bagghusfjärden and the small village of Flottskär. Here you will find resting facilities at Flottskär's jetty, including benches, tables, a barbecue area and a resting area for horses.

The stage ends at Bagghusbron bridge near Gåsvik, where the Väddö Canal begins. Nearby is Erikskulle hembygdsgård, a historic site founded with inspiration from Skansen. This homestead is the oldest and largest in Stockholm County, and it offers an extensive collection of buildings and artefacts from Söderbykarl and the surrounding parishes.

The Roslagsleden trail passes south of the nature reserve at the eastern tip of Lake Rådasjön, where you can explore a small wooded area with rare plant species such as guckusko and forest sedge.
