Svenska Högarna is a group of islands in the outer archipelago of Stockholm, which has been a nature reserve since 1976. In 2020, the County Administrative Board decided to expand the protected area to include a large sea area around the island group, making it Sweden's largest marine nature reserve.

The sea area is home to a rich marine wildlife and a seabed with healthy ecosystems. There are blue mussels, seaweed and algae belts, among other things. On land, there is a barren archipelago nature with bare rocks.

There are also several attractions from when the area was a fishing harbour and lighthouse, including a troy castle, a stone labyrinth and a cemetery.

Svenska Högarna is located in Norrtälje municipality, but the nature reserve is managed by the County Administrative Board.

Find your way here: Ögruppen and Svenska högarnas nature reserve is the outermost outpost of the Stockholm archipelago facing the Baltic Sea about 35 km (about 19 nautical miles) east of Möja. The archipelago can only be reached by private boat, taxi or charter boat.

"In the bosom of Roslagen on the flowering island, where the waves lapping against the shore, and the reeds waving and freshly cut hay, it smells against me sometimes, there I sit on a bench in the bersong and watch terns and seagulls"
