Wiktor's ladder - Hargshamn

Wiktor's Path is a 2.5-kilometre-long trail that takes you through a peaceful spruce forest near Hargshamn. Here you can take a short excursion from the campsite, go for a walk, jog, or pick blueberries in season.

Signs pointing towards Wiktor's path. Coniferous forest and a path with leaves on the ground.

The path connects to Viking Trail, making it easy to continue towards The Iron Coop – a harbour warehouse from 1758 where iron from the Walloon ironworks was stored before being shipped on. The iron store functions today as a summer museum and is located near the water, a place where many choose to take a break. On the way there, you pass wooden sculptures and small areas of older woodland.

Accessibility

  • The terrain is moderately hilly and suitable for novice hikers as well as travellers who want to experience nature in an easily accessible way.
  • The path is not suitable for prams or wheelchairs, but there are three seats along the route.

Allemansrätten
– for those who want to pick berries and explore nature

In Sweden, the 'right of public access' (allemansrätten) applies, which means everyone is allowed to be in nature, pick berries and mushrooms, and walk along trails like Wiktor's Path. The most important thing is not to disturb and not to destroy.

Visitors may pick blueberries and other vegetation for personal use, but should show consideration for landowners, wildlife and the nature around the path.

"In the bosom of Roslagen on the flowering island, where the waves lapping against the shore, and the reeds waving and freshly cut hay, it smells against me sometimes, there I sit on a bench in the bersong and watch terns and seagulls"
