Upplandsleden - stage 10

Along this 30-kilometre section of the Upplandsleden trail, a hike through varied landscapes awaits you, where you move from quiet forest paths to winding gravel roads. The journey starts at Kolarmoraån and takes you through almost untouched nature, far from buildings, which gives a sense of privacy and wilderness.

At the Kolarmoraån rest area you will find two shelters, accessible via a gravel road with a barrier 1.5 km from the rest area. From here, the trail winds along the river through the charming village of Kolarmora and continues on forest paths to Lake Gisslaren.

The southern part of Lake Gisslaren offers nice places for resting and swimming, while the landscape becomes more reed-rich further north. After a few kilometres along the lake, the trail takes you into the forest, along paths and roads to farms, and then returns to the lake. At the northern end of Gisslaren, you'll find a picnic area with a shelter by the water, perfect for an overnight stay or a relaxing break. If you only plan to hike part of stage 10, this is a suitable place to be picked up.

After the picnic area, the trail takes you through airy woods and passes the remains of three crofts spread over 2 km. You will come across cellars, lilac bushes and house foundations, with the last croft, Fäboda, demolished after the crofter's death in 1951. The stage runs mostly along easy forest roads and an old railway embankment, once used for timber transport to Gimo sawmill. The last few kilometres to Gimo Manor take you along a road.

Embark on this inspiring hike and let the Upplandsleden guide you through a harmonious and scenic journey, where every step is filled with historical traces and surrounding beauty. Explore Upplandsleden - your path to tranquillity and natural peace.
