How do we get out into the Roslagen archipelago?
It depends a bit on the time of year. During the summer, several boat tours and summer routes run from Norrtälje harbour and other jetties along the coast.
For the rest of the year, scheduled archipelago services run from the embarkation points along the coast. You can get to several of the piers by bus from Norrtälje.
We want to go on a day trip – where can we go?
Starting from Norrtälje, there are many excursions at a reasonable distance for a day trip. Head towards Väddö and Grisslehamn, take a trip to Furusund or discover one of Roslagen's manor houses and industrial heritage environments, like Rånäs or Wira bruk.
If you fancy something more to eat and drink, there is farm shops, local producers, breweries and distilleries to visit – or make the trip out a long lunch, drinks tasting or a few hours at the spa.
Availability and opening hours vary according to the season, and the tourist office can help you find what suits you.

The Wallinska Estates, an address with history
The tourist information office is located in the Falu red Wallinska farmsteads, some of Norrtälje's oldest surviving wooden houses. They were built in the 1730s, when Lilla torget was an important trading place near the harbour.
Over the years, the buildings have housed a shoemaker's, a saddlery, a bakery, an art gallery and a bookshop, among other things. They survived the town fire of 1879 – and in the 1940s were close to being demolished to make way for a car park.
300 years leave their mark
During 2026 and 2027, the Wallinska estates will be restored. Roofs, facades, timber and windows are being overhauled as part of the work to preserve the culturally and historically valuable buildings in central Norrtälje.
The restoration follows building conservation principles and antiquarian guidelines, in line with Conservation programme for the town of Norrtälje. As much as possible of the older material of the houses is salvaged. Windows are renovated instead of being replaced, and the facades are painted with traditional mud paint and linseed oil paint.
The work is taking place in stages, but the tourist office remains open as usual in the meantime.
