Summer shipping lanes in the Roslagen archipelago
North/South Line (Line 40)
Stockholm archipelago's longest boat route! During the summer it runs from Arholma in the north to Nynäshamn in the south and calls at some 25 jetties along the way, including Gräddö, Furusund, Yxlan, Blidö and Finnhamn in Roslagen, onwards to Möja, Sandhamn, Stavsnäs, Nämndö, Dalarö and Nåttarö.
Suits you like: Village island-hop, discover multiple islands during the same trip, hike parts of the Stockholm Archipelago Trail or combine different parts of the Stockholm archipelago.

Northern Boat Route
Northern boat line runs daily between Norrtälje harbour and Arholma during the summer, with a stop at Håknäs, Gräddö and Lidö before the boat returns the same way.
At Arholma, the boat stays for around three hours, which provides plenty of time to go swimming, have lunch, discover the island or hike a section of the Stockholm Archipelago Trail. On board, there is the opportunity to buy coffee and pastries, light meals and drinks.

Regular boat traffic in the Roslagen archipelago
Waxholmsbolaget
Experience the Roslagen archipelago all year round! When the summer routes end, Waxholmsbolaget's regular boat traffic takes over, making it possible to travel to many of the islands even during autumn, winter and spring.
Where you board depends on which part of the archipelago you want to visit.
Common departure points
Central Roslagen
- Räfsnäs → Lidö, Fejan
- Simpnäs → Arholma
- Furusund → Blidö, Yxlan and nearby islands
Southern Roslagen
- Åsättra → Husarö, Ingmarsö, Finnhamn, Svartsö and nearby islands
- Strömkajen (Stockholm) → direct routes through the archipelago
It is also possible to travel via to several of the islands in the southern Roslagen area Vaxholm, which is an important hub for the archipelago traffic.
The timetables vary between seasons and certain piers are only served during parts of the year or on demand. Therefore, always check the current timetable before you travel.

Archipelago cruises and excursions
In addition to the regular boat services, there are several operators offering day trips, themed cruises and guided tours in the Roslagen archipelago. The range of options varies throughout the year.
Blidösundsbolaget
The S/S Blidösund from 1911 is one of Roslagen's most beloved archipelago steamers. The coal-fired steamship is still in service, offering an archipelago experience out of the ordinary.
Throughout the year, Blidösundsbolaget organises day trips, music and dining cruises, Christmas cruises and other archipelago excursions using both classic steamships and modern passenger vessels. During the summer, S/S Blidösund also operates the route between Stockholm and Norrtälje with stops along the way.

Yellow Boat
Ängsö Line is a popular boat service between Furusund and Ängsö National Park during the summer season. Gula Båten operates the route on behalf of the County Administrative Board and also offers water taxi services, charters and boat trips to several islands and destinations in the Roslagen archipelago.

Passenger boats in the Östhammar archipelago
There is no regular archipelago traffic in the Östhammar archipelago just like in Norrtälje and Österåker. Here you instead reach several of the islands with smaller passenger boats that are booked directly through each respective destination.

From Äspskär on Gräsö does a passenger boat go to Rävsten? The boat is booked directly through the Rävsten cottage village and is used by both day visitors and overnight guests.

Passenger boat to Örskär
From Örskärssundet on Gräsö does the passenger boat go to Örskär. The boat is booked directly via Örskär lighthouse. The tour runs on weekends during spring and autumn, and six days a week in high summer. Places are limited, and larger parties are advised to book well in advance.

Passenger boat to Vässarö
From Blidö, a passenger boat goes to Vässarö, one of Sweden's largest scout islands. The traffic is mainly used by scouting activities and school classes during the summer.

Galley
A floating event venue with its home port in Öregrund. Everything from summer parties and dinners to corporate events is arranged here, with the northern Roslagen archipelago as a backdrop. Ferries to Åland, Finland and Estonia
Scheduled ferry services across the Sea of Åland run from Roslagen. With departures from Grisslehamn and Kapellskär can you travel to Åland, Finland and Estonia – whether the goal is a day trip, a holiday or a longer journey.
Eckerö Linjen
From Grisslehamn does the Eckerö Linjen go to Eckerö in Åland with several daily departures all year round. For many, the crossing itself is an experience in its own right, with restaurants, shopping, and sea views on board. The boat is just as suitable for a day trip as for a longer journey to Åland.

Car ferries in Roslagen
If you want to take the car out into the archipelago, there are several free car ferries connecting the islands with the mainland all year round.
The ferries are operated by the Swedish Transport Administration and run with frequent departures, making it easy to discover the islands of the Roslagen archipelago by car.
