Join us on a historical adventure in the underground! The tour starts at the Mining Museum in Dannemora, where the group gathers for an introduction and safety briefing. Here you'll see a model of the winding underground mine tunnels and hear stories about the miners' lives and history.
Equipped with a helmet, harness and headlamp, you then climb safely via ferrata - a climbing route equipped with fixed wires, steps and bridges that allow you to make your way safely - down into the fabulously beautiful Ice Mine, a 16th-century mine shaft that offers both drama and cultural history.
On some tours the group participates Historical Stories, which, through dramatised stories, allows the legends and tales of creatures such as the Lady Miner and the Miner to take on a human form and emerge from the darkness - while the torches cast light over the walls of the mine.
The tour takes about three hours and is suitable for those of normal fitness.
